Hello All,
Today, we filed our quarterly campaign financing report with the Maryland Board of Elections in compliance with the The Maryland Campaign Financing filing deadline of Tuesday 4/21.
One of the major pillars of my campaign is transparency which I am committed to carrying over into our administration. As such, I thought I would give you an update on the latest campaign finance reporting.
As you all know, this is my first campaign. Unlike my fellow candidates who spent two years preparing for this race, I have been working as an average citizen within the system to raise awareness among our elected officials about some of the gaps in recent legislation pushed through by the County Council. I had no intention of running for office at the time because I truly believed that our elected officials were always willing and able to listen to rational points of view, find common ground and build consensus.
We launched our campaign the same week as the candidate filing deadline because we really hoped that we could depend on our elected officials to do the right thing and we held out hope literally until the 11th hour. When it became apparent that we could not rely on our current elected officials, we made the difficult decision to enter the Democratic Primary for Anne Arundel County Executive despite the massive challenges we knew we'd face in the months ahead.
We needed to find a new treasurer early on in the campaign. This delayed the establishment of a bank account and campaign donation mechanisms. I am proud to say that my mother has stepped up to take on this roll to aide the campaign on top of her work schedule and the proud roll of Grandmother! Changing of campaign treasurers obviously set us back a week or two because setting up the campaign financial mechanisms relies heavily on an independent treasurer which we now have. We plan to grow our campaign budget between now and May.
I am happy to report that we are now established on "ActBlue" and can except electronic campaign donations online using the link below:
You can still donate to our campaign by mailing a check, or money order to the following address:

Due to the limited time we have, we unfortunately had to forego the public campaign financing route, however we are committed to only accepting donations from members of the public, and organizations that share in the same values that our campaign does in service of the public interest. We will not allow private interests who expect something in return to have leverage over the campaign. This is one of the main reasons that motivated us to start this campaign. Our only responsibility is to the Citizens of Anne Arundel County.
I genuinely saw a serious problem with the direction of our County, and how our citizens go unheard despite raising valid concerns, and questions. As such, I have been willing to step up and do what is necessary in the best interest of the people.
We appreciate the importance of financial resources for a campaign to spread its message but what really matters is your vote. We aren't comfortable asking for money during these tough economic times. If you are willing but unable to donate, consider casting your vote for Kyle A. Nembhard on Tuesday June 23.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and I look forward to seeing you out on the campaign trail!
Kyle A. Nembhard
